Your new company
A growing and ambitious Services Business in Greater Manchester is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director / Financial Controller to support the expansion of its newly established Outsourcing and Advisory division.
Following the acquisition of two businesses in the last 12 months, the business is experiencing significant growth and is building a specialist advisory offering for SME clients. Their focus is supporting businesses through periods of growth, change and turnaround, helping owners strengthen financial controls, improve reporting and make more informed commercial decisions.
Your new role
Working closely with business owners and senior stakeholders, you'll provide hands-on finance leadership across a portfolio of SME clients.
You'll review and improve controls, processes and reporting, whilst delivering meaningful financial analysis and commercial insight to support decision-making. This is a varied role that combines the operational delivery of a Financial Controller with the commercial perspective of a Finance Director.
Key responsibilities include:
- Improving finance processes, controls and reporting.
- Providing commercial analysis and performance commentary.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
- Advising SME owners on growth, efficiency and financial performance.
- Supporting and mentoring small finance teams where required.
- Helping shape and develop the firm's growing advisory proposition.
The assignment will initially be 3 days per week for 3-6 months, with the potential for extension.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with previous experience operating as a Financial Controller, Finance Director or senior interim finance professional. You'll bring a strong SME background, a hands-on approach and a proven ability to improve controls, processes and reporting. Commercially minded, you'll be confident translating financial information into meaningful business insight and building trusted relationships with business owners and senior stakeholders. Experience supporting organisations through growth, transformation or turnaround situations would be highly advantageous.
