Your new role

As a Tree Officer, you will be responsible for delivering a cyclical tree inspection and management programme across the South and East regions. You will undertake tree condition surveys, assess risks, specify and manage remedial works, and maintain accurate tree records using specialist surveying and mapping software.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting planned and emergency tree inspections and surveys
  • Producing risk-based maintenance and remedial work programmes
  • Managing tree-related enquiries from residents and stakeholders
  • Investigating tree-related insurance claims, including subsidence assessments
  • Monitoring contractor performance and quality of completed works
  • Developing woodland management plans and biodiversity projects
  • Providing expert arboricultural advice across multiple departments
  • Ensuring compliance with Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs), Conservation Areas, and relevant legislation
  • Assisting with major incident response and continual improvement of tree management policies

What you'll need to succeed

  • Level 3 Diploma in Arboriculture or equivalent qualification
  • LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection (PTI) qualification
  • Experience in a Tree Officer, Arboricultural Consultant, or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of tree inspection techniques, risk assessment, pests and diseases
  • Working knowledge of BS5837 and BS3998 standards
  • Understanding of tree legislation, including TPOs and Conservation Area requirements
  • Experience managing contractors and monitoring work quality
  • Ability to write technical reports and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and arboricultural surveying/mapping software
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region
