We're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated BSL Communication Champion to join a welcoming and inclusive Further Education college in the Essex area this September.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive team where you will play a truly meaningful role in learners' lives. Every day, you'll help create opportunities, increase independence, and ensure deaf and hard-of-hearing learners have equal access to education and success.

You'll work closely with lecturers, support teams, and wider college staff, using your BSL skills and understanding of communication needs to remove barriers and create an inclusive learning environment where every learner can thrive.

  • Using British Sign Language (BSL) and other communication methods to support learning and understanding
  • Helping learners develop confidence, independence, and self-belief
  • Supporting learners with study skills, literacy, note-taking, and organisation
  • Encouraging learners to achieve their EHCP targets and personal goals
  • Working alongside teaching staff to create an accessible and inclusive classroom environment
  • Supporting learners during educational visits, work experience placements, and examinations where required

What We're Looking For

  • BSL Level
  • 1, 2, or 3 qualification

  • Confidence using British Sign Language within an education setting
  • A patient, positive, and learner-centred approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them achieve their potential
  • Experience within education, SEND, communication support, or learner support is desirable

Why Join?

  • Permanent position
  • Part-time, term-time only hours
  • September start
  • Supportive and inclusive college environment
  • Make a genuine difference to deaf and hard-of-hearing learners every day
  • A rewarding role where your skills directly change lives

If you're looking for a role where your BSL skills can open doors, build confidence, and help learners achieve their dreams, we'd love to hear from you
