We're looking for a Business Continuity & Emergency Planning Manager to lead and develop our organisation-wide approach to business continuity, emergency preparedness and crisis response. This is a pivotal role where you'll work with senior leaders and colleagues across the organisation to ensure robust plans, training and assurance processes are in place to help St John Ambulance prepare for, respond to and recover from disruptive incidents. You'll also play a key role in embedding a culture of resilience, ensuring we meet national standards and regulatory requirements while protecting the services we provide to communities across the country.

About You

· You'll have proven experience of developing and implementing business continuity and emergency planning arrangements within a complex organisation.

· You'll have a strong understanding of ISO 22301, NHS Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) requirements, or equivalent resilience and business continuity frameworks.

· You'll be an excellent communicator who can build trusted relationships with senior leaders, operational colleagues and external partners, influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels.

· You'll be confident analysing risk, identifying critical business activities and translating complex information into practical, proportionate plans and solutions.

· You'll be highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities, lead improvement initiatives and remain calm and decisive when responding to incidents or crises.

· Most importantly, you'll share our HEART values of Humanity, Excellence, Accountability, Responsiveness and Teamwork, and be committed to helping St John Ambulance build a resilient organisation that can continue delivering its vital services when they're needed most.

· Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of St John Ambulance's Business Continuity Management System, ensuring alignment with ISO 22301 and NHS resilience standards.

· Develop, maintain and test business continuity, emergency preparedness and crisis response plans that enable the organisation to respond effectively to disruptive incidents.

· Design and deliver engaging training programmes and exercises that build confidence, capability and preparedness across the organisation.

· Work with senior leaders, operational teams and external partners to identify risks, conduct business impact analyses and strengthen organisational resilience.

· Monitor performance, prepare assurance reports and ensure lessons learned from incidents, exercises and audits are translated into meaningful improvements.

· Participate in the on-call rota, providing expert advice and support during incidents, emergencies and major events while helping coordinate organisational response and recovery.
