Summary
Our work helps the Environment Agency understand flood and coastal risk, make evidence-based decisions, and invest where it will have the greatest benefit for people and the environment. Mapping and Analytics are central to this, helping turn complex data into clear evidence, products and advice that support national decisions.
This Mapping and Analytics Officer role will play an important part in delivering practical spatial analysis, mapping and data products across a varied portfolio of work. You will support nationally important activity including flood risk mapping, spatial analysis, evidence requests, project support and customer-led work.
You will work with technical specialists, analysts, mapping colleagues, project leads and internal customers. You will help prepare, review, check and present spatial data, making sure outputs are clear, accurate and useful. You will be comfortable working with detail, asking questions, solving problems and managing several pieces of work at once.

Your role will include:
• Preparing, analysing and quality-checking spatial datasets
• Producing maps, GIS layers, statistics, spreadsheets and other evidence products
• Supporting flood risk analysis, property counts and data requests
• Delivering work that supports national flood mapping, investment and environmental priorities
• Working with customers and colleagues to agree requirements and outputs
• Managing your workload and recording progress, issues and decisions
• Contributing to improvements in mapping, analysis and team ways of working
The team
This role sits within the FCRM Risk Assessment function, supporting the delivery of nationally important mapping, analysis and evidence work. You will work closely with colleagues across the Mapping and Modelling department, Flood and Coastal Risk Management and wider Environment Agency teams. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to work that informs national decisions, improves evidence and helps deliver better outcomes for people, places and the environment.
