Summary

This is a 6 month fixed term role

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences is looking to fill the vacancy of the Environmental Sciences laboratory technician in their state-of-the-art teaching labs. The successful candidate will join our small friendly team of highly skilled dedicated technicians supporting teaching in the faculty through the design of teaching sessions, preparation of materials and by helping students in their practical learning experiences.

You will primarily be involved in the Biology practicals and field trips for undergraduate and postgraduate students but may also help with chemistry-based practicals in other subjects, such as Biochemistry/Biomed and Nutrition and the maintenance of invertebrate stocks, when needed. You will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and effective laboratory environment while promoting academic excellence and scientific inquiry among our students.

We are looking for a well-qualified enthusiastic scientist who is familiar with a wide range of laboratory techniques, and who is interested in applying their scientific knowledge and technical expertise in a higher education teaching laboratory environment. We are also looking for someone who will become a part of our small but efficient technical team, and who will be happy sharing team responsibilities, as well as bringing their unique knowledge and experience.
