About Me:
Hi! I’m a 26‑year‑old female living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and ME/CFS, which affect my mobility, energy levels, and day‑to‑day independence. I use a mobility aid and occasionally a wheelchair, and I sometimes need support with tasks like navigating stairs, preparing for the day, or managing activities that require sustained physical or cognitive effort.I also experience non‑epileptic seizures, which can leave me disoriented, exhausted, or temporarily unable to function. During or after these episodes, I may need calm reassurance, help to stay safe, and support with recovery. My symptoms can fluctuate, so flexibility, kindness and patience are really important.I have sensory sensitivities, especially to noise and overstimulation. A calm, gentle environment helps me stay regulated, and I really appreciate people who communicate clearly, kindly, and without rushing. During periods of overwhelm, I may experience functional mutism, where speaking becomes difficult or impossible. In those moments, I rely on alternative communication like gestures, typing, or short written prompts.Despite all this, I approach life with warmth, optimism, and a strong sense of humor. I’m friendly, compassionate, and love building trusting, supportive relationships. If we work together, I want you to feel valued, appreciated, and comfortable. You’ll often find me curled up with a good book, embroidering, or enjoying quiet creative hobbies. If you’re someone who is calm, kind, reliable, and enjoys meaningful one‑to‑one work, we’ll get along wonderfully.About the Role:
I’m looking for a reliable, compassionate, and adaptable Personal Assistant to help me with day-to-day tasks while bringing a grounding and calming presence. This isn’t a clinical caregiving role - it’s about practical assistance and support, helping me maintain healthy routines while making life a little smoother. Key Responsibilities:• Assisting with getting ready for the day or settling for bed, including gentle pacing and awareness of fatigue levels.• Helping with washing, dressing, and tasks that require fine motor or physical effort.• Providing steady, safe support when using mobility aids, moving around the home, or navigating stairs.• Remaining calm and reassuring during non‑epileptic seizures, helping me stay safe, offering grounding afterwards, and supporting recovery when I’m disoriented or fatigued.• Helping maintain a calm, low‑stimulus environment; supporting me during sensory overwhelm or periods of functional mutism by using clear, gentle communication or alternative methods (typing, gestures, short prompts).• Encouraging healthy structure, helping me stay on track with tasks, pacing, and rest.• Supporting with cleaning, tidying, and practical chores to keep my home running smoothly.• Accompanying me to appointments or outings when needed, offering practical help and emotional steadiness.Essential Skills & Requirements:• Reliability — punctual, dependable, and consistent, especially as my symptoms can fluctuate unexpectedly• Strong timekeeping skills — able to structure tasks effectively and help maintain a steady routine• Flexibility — adaptable to changing needs, varying energy levels, and occasional seizure‑related interruptions
• Understanding of neurological conditions OR a willingness to learn with patience and an open mind• Calm sensory‑aware communication — comfortable using gentle, clear communication, especially during sensory overwhelm or functional mutism• Seizure awareness — able to remain calm, reassuring, and safety‑focused during non‑epileptic seizures• Own transportation is desirable for appointments or outings but can be worked around• Kind and supportive nature — able to provide a grounding, steady presence, and emotional encouragementIf you are someone who enjoys making a positive difference and thrives in a role that blends practical support with emotional steadiness, I would love to hear from you!
