Summary

We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable commercial vehicle repair business in Chorley, Lancashire, for the position of HGV Technician. Benefits of an HGV Technician:

- Salary up to £50,500 basic, including bonuses and Saturday overtime, rising to approximately £53,000 OTE

- Additional monthly bonuses for MOT testing and possessing a Class 1 licence

- Bonus scheme based on performance

- Alternating shift pattern offering a good work-life balance: Week 1: Monday to Thursday 7am–6pm; Week 2: Tuesday to Friday 7am–6pm, with alternate Saturday mornings 7am–12pm

- 4 days on – 4 days off and 4.5 days on – 2.5 days off rotation

Duties of an HGV Technician:

- Conduct routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on heavy goods vehicles in accordance with manufacturer standards

- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults efficiently

- Complete warranty repairs adhering to manufacturer guidelines

- Strip, fit, and replace components as necessary

- Maintain accurate documentation of work undertaken

- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and workshop standards

Requirements of an HGV Technician:

- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent qualification; time-served individuals considered

- Proven experience in commercial vehicle maintenance and repair

- Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, and problem-solving skills

- Methodical approach with high attention to detail and a commitment to quality

- Full UK driving licence; HGV Class 1 licence is advantageous

- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently

- Good organisational skills to manage workload efficiently
