Ready to impact a better future?

As a Plumber in our Estates and Facilities team, you’ll play a vital role in keeping a busy acute hospital running safely and smoothly. Your work will help ensure patients, colleagues and visitors can rely on safe, compliant and well-maintained water and plumbing systems every day.

Working at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, you’ll contribute to a positive impact on healthcare delivery by maintaining critical infrastructure that directly supports patient care. From planned preventative maintenance to reactive repairs, your skills will help protect water safety, support infection prevention, and create an environment where clinical teams can focus on what matters most.

What you’ll do as a plumber

You’ll be entrusted to:

- Deliver planned preventative maintenance on plumbing systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with statutory and operational requirements

- Carry out reactive plumbing maintenance, including repair and replacement of pipework, sanitaryware, valves and associated systems

- Service, maintain and test thermostatic mixing valves in line with NHS Health Technical Memoranda

- Support water safety activities such as temperature monitoring, flushing regimes and legionella prevention

- Accurately complete maintenance and compliance documentation using the CAFM system

- Work closely with estates colleagues, contractors and clinical teams to minimise disruption to patient care

Does this sound like you?

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

- A completed plumbing apprenticeship and/or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing and Heating (or equivalent)

- Proven experience in plumbing maintenance within a large building or estate environment

- Hands-on experience servicing and maintaining thermostatic mixing valves

- A good understanding of legionella control, water hygiene and compliance requirements

- The ability to use CAFM systems and confidently complete digital maintenance records

Vetting and checks

This role requires membership of the PVG Scheme, which involves a detailed check of spent and unspent convictions and other relevant information to ensure safeguarding compliance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can provide any necessary support to help you carry out your responsibilities. Discover all you need to keep growing
