Job Summary

Key responsibilities
• Observe IRR18 & IRMER 2017
• Maintain professional Standards
Provide A High Quality Technical Service
Clinical Practice
• To maintain a high standard of radiography & seek advice from more senior staff when required.
• Report any faults/incidents to the Lead Radiographer(s)/senior in charge.
• To maintain a high standard of patient care.
• Maintain a high standard of equipment care.
• To work on a rota system. This rota includes mobile and theatre work and after Suitable experience there may be the opportunity for training through the specialised rooms.
• The Trust provides a 24 hour cover and all newly appointment staff will be expected to participate in a standby and weekend rota.
Perform CT scanning and participate in the CT on call system after an appropriate training period.
• Placing ‘red dot’ on casualty films with identified trauma/pathology
• Administration of cannulas and I.V. contrast media after recognized training.
• To act as the first point of contact for all queries pertaining to Radiology out of hours and to liaise with the 2nd on-call Radiographer when necessary.

Management of Resources/equipment
Participative in all aspects of quality assurance program within the Imaging department.
All equipment faults/incidents must be reported to the Lead Radiographer.
Replenishing of low levels of stock must be communicated to the appropriate member of staff within the department.
Alert senior members of staff to all radiation errors as per their responsibility under IRMER
Professional Responsibility
Be aware of clinical governance issues.
Carry out any other duties which may be delegated by the Service Manager / Deputy Imaging Manger or delegated seniors.
To observe the ionizing Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (2000).
To report any radiation incidents & making appropriate records
To ensure that all Hospital Safety Policies, Procedures and fire regulations are observed.
Education
Maintain own CPD folder
Participate in audit both clinical and non-clinical
To be responsible for own personal and professional development which is planned and communicated with their line manager.
Keep abreast of current trends by reading radiography journals and attending courses.
Help in induction of new staff to the department
Help in student training, assessment and mentoring after appropriate training
Pursue post-graduate training.
