Summary

Pharmacy Technical Services at Bart’s Health NHS Trust is looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals with relevant experience in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment to be part of our specialist Manufacturing team. 

This is a trainee role where the post holder will enrol on and complete the two-year Science Manufacturing Technician (SMT) L3 apprenticeship, which is a qualification for workforce within technical services. Support will be provided by the department with on-the-job training and day release at college.

Pharmacy Technical Services is based across three sites , Royal London Hospital where we manufacture Parenteral Nutrition and Central Intravenous Additive Service ( CIVAS) products, St. Bartholomew’s Hospital where we manufacture chemotherapy products and Whipps Cross Hospital where we carry out pre-packing activities. This post will be based at the St Bartholomew’s site.

This post is open to both Pharmacy assistants who have experience in Technical Services and those with an industry background. Relevant experience in GMP and clean room environment is essential.

This is a training post which is based within the Pharmacy Technical Services where the post holder will be required to work under the supervision and guidance of the Production Manager, Aseptics Sevices Unit.

There will be a requirement to enrol on and complete the Science Manufacturing Technician L3 ( SMTL3) apprenticeship Qualification within two years and qualifying as a Production Technician.

Full training and support will be provided by the production and training team to achieve this Qualification. This post will lead to registration with the Registered Science Technician Council ( RSciTech).

The post holder will be required to attend college one day a week virtually via distance learning programme where attendance will be mandatory and ensure deadlines for college assignments and other requirements are met.

The post holder will have the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and experience in day-to-day technical services work. In conjunction with other members of the team the post holder will have a patient centred approach to aseptic manufacturing processes and deliver high standrads of hospital pharmacy aseptic services.
