Summary

An exciting opportunity had arisen for a booking clerk to join the Respiratory team at Dorset County Hospital. 

This is a varied, interesting and rewarding role, and we are looking for a post holder who is professional, confident, keen and friendly. You will need to be able to communicate with everyone in the MDT, including consultants, nurses, secretaries, patients and external agencies so having excellent communication skills is essential to the role.  

The post is based within the Respiratory Department, North Wing Level 2 at Dorset County Hospital. 

This role is for 37.5 hours per week

The post holder will be expected to undertake a range of general administrative duties for the department including creating and amending patients diagnostic appointments; booking inpatient diagnostic appointments; to answer telephone and email queries; and escalate patient queries where appropriate.  

This role plays a key part in ensuring timely diagnostics and maintaining smooth patient pathways within Respiratory Medicine, supporting the team to deliver high quality care and meet service demand. 

The jobholder would be expected to act on own initiative and be responsible for their own actions and be able to make decisions within their role and seek advice, if required, from various members of the MDT team. The successful candidate will also contribute to the smooth running of the overall administrative service and patient pathways, covering for others when on leave as appropriate. 

As a member of a team in the department, the post holder will be expected to work flexibly with other members of the team to ensure the best possible patient care.
