Summary
We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and motivated individuals to join our Imaging Support Worker (ISW) team. We have a range of full-time and part-time opportunities available, with a variety of shift patterns across our services.
As an Imaging Support Worker, you will play an important role in helping patients feel welcomed, supported and cared for throughout their visit. Working alongside our multidisciplinary imaging teams, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality services across CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray and Nuclear Medicine.
You may work across one or more of our sites, including Southmead Hospital, Cossham Hospital, Yate Community Health Centre and Clevedon Community Hospital.
This is an entry-levelBand 2position with a supported development pathway toBand 3following successful completion of the required competencies.
Due to the anticipated high level of interest, interviews for these roles will be conducted in a group format.

As part of our team, you will:
• Welcome and support patients before, during and after their examination or procedure.
• Provide reassurance and practical assistance to patients during their visit.
• Act as a chaperone when required.
• Help coordinate patient flow within the department to ensure services run smoothly and efficiently.
• Support reception, administrative and portering activities as required.
• Work closely with radiographers, radiologists, nurses and other colleagues to deliver an excellent patient experience.

Clinical:
Support registered radiology/nursing staff in the provision of essential care topatients by assisting patients whilst in the radiology department according to trust policy and procedures with:
• Acting as a chaperone whilst undergoing some examinations
• To assist in the Imaging rooms, giving explanations and reassurance
• Aiding dressing and undressing
• To be able to undertake reception duties when required
• Help to promote and maintain a clean, comfortable and tidy environment in the department, which meets the needs of patients, their relatives/carers and friends
• Contribute to accurate written and computerised documentation relevant to patient care ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times.
• Assist the multi professional team to prepare and support patients undergo treatment and/or investigation maintaining privacy and dignity at all times
• Chaperone patients during intimate procedures as required.
• Escort and transport non-acute patients with no treatment in progress and/or their relatives/carers to other wards and departments within the Trust ,via wheelchair, beds and trolleys
• Be aware of the importance of good health and the health education needs of patients as identified within individual care plans.
After completion of the appropriate training
Prepare and undertake agreed clinical activities (These will vary between wards and departments) such as:
1. Receive and store medication and products
2. Use of mechanical aids to assist movement and handling of patients
3. Assist with the preparation of trolleys for use in clinical areas
Reception:
Promote a friendly and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors in order to inspire confidence in the department and Trust.
• Receive and assist patients and all visitors attending the department in a courteous and professional manner.
• Ensure request forms and other documentation is correctly completed in line with departmental procedures.
• Maintain and update accurate attendance, personal and appointment details on the Computerised Radiology Information Systems (CRIS)
• Update the electronic hospital system to ensure the correct patient details are available on the CRIS.
• Confidently deal with queries coming through the department via telephone and face to face.
• Receive and accurately pass on information to relevant personnel.
• Deal with incoming post and distribute throughout their area and where necessary re-direct to the correct area.
• Perform general clerical duties and work within clerical teams under the office supervisor.
Personal Responsibilities
• Maintain personal standards of hygiene and promote universal precautions to limit cross infection
• To wear uniform as agreed by North Bristol Trust
• Participate in training and development programmes as identified by the department Manager and contribute to the development of others
• Keep up to date with changing practice attend Trust training programmes as required
• Ensure the Trust’s Policies and Procedures are known and followed
• Refer to the registered Radiographer/Nurse regarding any situation which is not within your current responsibility
