Summary
We are a warm, private family looking for a calm, reliable and understanding Personal Assistant to support our teenage daughter who has autism and social anxiety. The role centres on building trust, encouraging engagement with the world around her, and giving the family valued respite.
You will provide emotional, social and communication support to help our daughter feel safer, more confident and more connected. The focus is on meaningful activities she already enjoys, gentle encouragement into the outside world, and practical support that builds independence at home.
This is not a clinical or highly structured role. It is about patience, presence, creativity and meeting her where she is on any given day. Key Responsibilities
Develop a genuine understanding of her individual needs, preferences and communication style
Support her with the challenges of autism, particularly non-engagement, social isolation and dysregulation
Encourage and join in activities she loves, especially creativity and artwork
Gently support participation in enjoyable social or community activities such as shopping, walks and trips out
Help with everyday tasks that promote independence within the home
Provide calm, non-judgemental support during periods of distress or heightened anxiety
Offer the family practical respite through consistent, reliable support
Respect clear boundaries around internet and social media use (no involvement required or encouraged)
