Pennine Lodge, is a 70-bed Registered Care Home that provides an excellent standard of residential care for the elderly, including nursing and dementia care as well as shorter term care.
We are looking for a reliable, practical and enthusiastic Maintenance Assistant to join our team. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll play a vital part in ensuring our home remains safe, well-maintained and welcoming for our residents, visitors and colleagues.

The Role
As Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the home, ensuring all maintenance tasks are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks throughout the home.
• Completing daily, weekly and monthly maintenance checks in line with company policies.
• Assisting with planned preventative maintenance.
• Supporting fire safety compliance, including routine checks and assisting with fire drills.
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
• Decorating and carrying out minor refurbishment work where required.
• Maintaining the home's gardens and outdoor areas to a high standard.
• Liaising with external contractors, engineers and suppliers.
• Reporting maintenance issues promptly and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
• Responding efficiently to maintenance requests to minimise disruption to residents.
About You
We're looking for someone who is dependable, organised and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
You will have:
• Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, property maintenance or handyman role.
• Good practical skills across a wide range of maintenance tasks.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to prioritise work and use your own initiative.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A friendly, patient and respectful approach when working around older people.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience within a care home or healthcare environment is desirable but not essential.
An Enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful applicant.
