Weand#39;re looking for an Engineer (Contract Management) to join our Infrastructure andamp; Transportation Service and play a key role in the successful delivery of highway and infrastructure schemes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in construction contracts, project delivery or highway engineering who wants to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking local authority.

Working alongside experienced engineers, project managers and contractors, youand#39;ll help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and with maximum value for money for the city and its residents.

About the Role

As an Engineer (Contract Management), you will support the commercial and contractual management of a wide range of highway and infrastructure projects, from initial procurement through to completion.

A significant part of the role will involve administering NEC contracts, monitoring contractor performance and supporting the management of programme, cost, risk and quality throughout project delivery.

You will work closely with contractors, consultants, elected members, colleagues and stakeholders to help deliver successful outcomes while ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, technical standards and health and safety legislation.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting the administration of NEC3/NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contracts and other contract forms.

Managing contractual processes such as early warnings, compensation events, payment assessments, instructions and programme reviews.

Monitoring contractor performance against programme, quality, cost, safety and clients requirements.

Reviewing highway drawings, specifications, traffic management proposals, method statements and construction information.

Supporting project management activities including planning, risk management, forecasting, reporting and budget monitoring.

Assisting in the delivery of Sunderland City Counciland#39;s responsibilities under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

Attending site, progress and stakeholder meetings and maintaining accurate project and contract records.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, elected members and external partners to support the successful delivery of schemes across the city.

About You

Weand#39;re looking for a proactive and organised individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and can build positive relationships with a wide range of people.

You may already have experience managing contracts and construction projects, or you may come from a highway engineering background and be looking to develop your commercial and contract management skills further.

You will have:andnbsp;

An HNC or HND in Civil Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience of administering or supporting construction contracts, ideally NEC3 or NEC4.

Experience working on highway or infrastructure projects.

A good understanding of highway construction methods, materials and specifications.

Knowledge of CDM 2015 and health and safety responsibilities within construction projects.

The ability to analyse information and provide practical recommendations to support decision-making.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants, stakeholders and colleagues.

Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

An awareness of current highway standards and guidance, including DMRB and Manual for Streets.
