Summary
Student Support Mentor - SEMH and Alternative Provision
Greater Manchester - Bolton, Bury, Manchester City, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan
£14 to £16 per hour / £105 to £120 per day depending on experience
Flexible - day to day supply, short term contracts, long term placements, temp to perm, part time and full time.
About the role
Young people with SEMH needs, trauma histories and disrupted educational journeys do not need someone who follows a script. They need someone who shows up consistently, builds trust slowly and refuses to give up when things get hard.
That is what a Student Support Mentor at Elevate Beyond looks like.
You will work within specialist SEMH schools, PRUs, Alternative Provision academies and community-based settings across Greater Manchester, supporting young people aged 11 to 19 to rebuild confidence, re-engage with education and develop the resilience they need to move forward.
What you will be doing
One to one mentoring and pastoral support. Emotional wellbeing guidance and positive behaviour support. Re-engagement work with young people who have disengaged from mainstream education. Encouragement toward independence and personal development. Collaboration with specialist teachers, therapists and multidisciplinary teams.
No two days will look the same. The impact will be consistent.
What we are looking for
At least one year of direct experience supporting young people with SEMH, EBD or complex needs in an education, youth work or community setting.
A trauma-informed and ACE-aware approach, whether through formal training or lived practice.
Enhanced DBS with children's barred list, Level 2 Safeguarding certificate, DBS Update Service registration, two professional references and the right to work in the UK.
