Summary

Job Description: SHO - ENT & Trauma & Orthopaedics (T&O)

Position: Senior House Officer (SHO)

Specialties: ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) and Trauma & Orthopaedics (T&O)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Full Rota

Essential Requirements

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.

• Previous NHS experience at SHO level in ENT and/or Trauma & Orthopaedics.

• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is mandatory.

• Ability to work across a full rota, including days, nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.

• Excellent clinical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with ENT and T&O conditions.

• Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, and emergency admissions as required.

• Provide timely clinical reviews and initiate appropriate treatment plans.

• Work closely with consultants, registrars, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams.

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure high standards of patient care.

• Participate in on-call duties in line with the rota requirements.

Desirable Criteria

• Previous experience within UK hospital settings.

• Experience managing acute ENT and orthopaedic emergencies.

• Up-to-date mandatory training and appraisal/revalidation documentation.
