Summary

The Health and Safety Officer aids the CAPEX Management Team in the development, implementation, monitoring and administration of the site’s health & safety strategy, ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel involved in the Projects.

The role also requires the identification of areas requiring improvement and strives to achieve “best-practice” in the industry sector.

The role is critical in preventing accidents and incidents, managing risks and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.

What you will do:

• Provide professional Health & Safety expertise and leadership across the site, leading by example and fostering a positive safety culture.

• Manage and drive continuous improvement of occupational Health & Safety activities on site.

• Ensure site and project teams comply with all relevant Health & Safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and CDM Regulations 2015, and maintain compliance through certified and business management systems.

• Act as the designated competent person for all Health & Safety matters.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for external regulatory and statutory bodies, including the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), where applicable.

• Support the development and implementation of Health & Safety programmes across all projects and share best practice across the wider business where appropriate.

• Promote a culture of continual Health & Safety improvement.

• Support hazard identification and risk management activities across the CAPEX portfolio, providing practical solutions to mitigate identified risks.

• Promote local Health & Safety targets and improvement strategies to encourage accountability and ownership at all levels of the organisation.

• Develop individual capability in identifying, assessing and controlling risks, supporting the achievement of an incident-free workplace.

• Conduct training needs analyses for projects, coordinating and delivering Health & Safety training where appropriate.

• Manage document control and record retention relating to loss prevention and control, ensuring the business can demonstrate compliance with Health & Safety obligations.

• Optimise the integration of Health, Safety (including construction), and compliance management systems to minimise losses and improve organisational effectiveness.
