Summary

Role Overview This is an exciting opportunity to join Waterloo Manor Hospital, Leeds, as our Social Work and Safeguarding Lead. Working within our low secure mental health services, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, person-centred social work practice to adults with learning disabilities and complex mental health needs who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983. You will be responsible for assessing patients' social care needs in accordance with the NHS and Community Care Act 1990 (Section 47), the Care Programme Approach, and relevant legislation. Managing your own caseload, you will work autonomously while collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team to promote recovery, reduce barriers to discharge, and achieve the best possible outcomes for patients. As the hospital's Safeguarding Lead, you will provide expert advice and leadership on safeguarding adults, supporting colleagues with complex safeguarding concerns, leading investigations where appropriate, and promoting best practice across the service. You will work in partnership with local authorities and external agencies to ensure patients receive safe, effective, and coordinated care. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Social Worker looking to combine specialist clinical practice with strategic safeguarding leadership in a supportive, recovery-focused environment.
