Summary

Kingston and Richmond CAMHS are multidisciplinary teams specialising in the provision of high-quality assessments and evidence-based treatments for children, young people and their families presenting to the service with moderate to severe mental health problems and/or Neuropsychiatric difficulties.

We are looking for a committed Nurse who is passionate about working with children and young people with ADHD, who is interested in wider service development initiatives and eligible to undertake the Nurse prescriber training.

The role will be to provide a flexible, timely response to young people and their families who are accessing services for ADHD medication titration, GP Shared Care routine medication reviews, and psycho-social support for YP with ADHD and their families.

The role facilitates joint working with team consultants, non-medical prescribers and therapists within the teams, local GP’s, and partnership agencies. While working alongside the team medics and NMPs the post holder will undertake Nurse prescriber training.

The post holder will be appointed to a band 6 development role and will be supported through a preceptorship model that includes a professional and clinical development plan for continuing professional development training. A Preceptorship NMP will be supported to acquire the knowledge, skills and experience that meet the person specifications for the post at band 7, after successfully completing the Non-Medical prescribing qualification.

This role is open to qualified Nurses with the following:

• Qualification as Registered Nurse with the NMC.

• Have a minimum of a first level degree.

• Minimum experience of 2 years working at a B5/6 level

• Eligible to undertake the NMP course (be a registered level 1 nurse (RN) or midwife with the NMC, have a minimum of 12 months registration as a registered level 1 nurse (RN) or midwife with the NMC, have practiced as a registered level 1 nurse (RN) or midwife full-time (or the equivalent part-time) for a year immediately preceding application to the module in the clinical field in which the applicant intends to prescribe)

• Experience of working with children and young people

• Experience of work within a multi-disciplinary team

• The ability to relate and provide accessible services to a diverse community.

• Knowledge and skills in risk management and safeguarding.

• The Community CAMHS Directorate is located within Southwest London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust. The Trust is responsible for the provision of mental health services to the population of Wandsworth, Merton, Sutton, Kingston, and Richmond as well

as providing a range of specialist services to a set of wider, regional, and national catchment areas.

• Tier 3 CAMHS provides out-patient and consultation services to children and adolescents experiencing a range of mental health problems and developmental difficulties.

• The service has undergone transformation, and this post has been created to form part of a new CAMHS service model which features dedicated services, local services, and assessment services.

• Tier 3 teams conform to a model devised by the Trust based on the Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) and on the Children and Young Persons Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP IAPT) initiative.

• The service includes dedicated Services for Eating Disorders, Neurodevelopmental Assessment, Complex Learning Difficulties, Multi-Systemic Therapy and Emergency Care.
