Location: Manchester

Pay Rate: £95-£115 per day DOE

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and mental health challenges? Do you have the empathy, resilience and relationship-building skills to help students overcome barriers to learning?

Cover People are recruiting a dedicated SEND Learning Mentor to join a specialist secondary provision in Manchester. This rewarding role involves supporting students aged 11-18 whose medical, emotional or mental health needs have impacted their ability to access mainstream education. The school provides short-term educational placements, helping students rebuild confidence, improve attendance and successfully re-engage with learning through a highly personalised and trauma-informed approach. Pupils have access to therapeutic support alongside an academic curriculum designed to meet their individual needs.

- Provide mentoring and pastoral support to students with SEND, SEMH and mental health needs.

- Build positive relationships that promote engagement, attendance and wellbeing.

- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

- Assist students in developing emotional regulation, resilience and social skills.

- Work alongside teachers, therapists and external agencies to support individual learning plans.

- Help students overcome barriers to education and prepare for successful reintegration into school settings where appropriate.

- Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH or mental health needs.

- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

- A calm, patient and empathetic approach.

- Experience in mentoring, youth work, pastoral support or education is highly desirable.

- A genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people achieve positive outcomes.
