Our Graduates into Teaching Pathway provides the ideal opportunity to gain valuable, paid classroom experience as a Teaching Assistant in schools across Sunderland and the surrounding areas.
Whether you're planning to apply for teacher training in the future or simply want to explore a career in education, this programme will help you develop the skills, confidence, and experience needed to take the next step.
- Paid Classroom Experience - Gain between three months and one year of paid experience as a Teaching Assistant while learning from experienced education professionals.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll support pupils on both a one-to-one basis and in small groups across a range of partner schools, including primary, secondary, and specialist SEND settings.
Throughout your placement, you'll receive mentoring and coaching from our experienced team, helping you develop practical classroom skills and gain a valuable insight into life as a teacher. Placements are carefully matched to schools in your local area wherever possible.
We're looking for enthusiastic graduates who are passionate about working with children and young people and are interested in building a career in education.
- A degree in any subject (minimum 2:2 classification or predicted equivalent)
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A flexible, organised, and proactive approach
- A genuine enthusiasm for supporting young people, particularly within secondary education
- Two professional referees
- An Enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one
Pay is dependent on experience and qualifications.
