Pay: £90 per day
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Truro is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who have a range of additional needs, helping them to feel confident, supported, and fully engaged in their learning. You'll play an important role in creating a positive and inclusive environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
The successful candidate will support children with needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and other learning differences, providing personalised support both in and out of the classroom.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside teachers and support staff to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual goals.
- Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs
- Supporting pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to access learning and participate in daily school life
- Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting emotional regulation through consistent strategies
- Adapting classroom activities and learning resources under the guidance of the class teacher
- Promoting independence, communication, and social development
- Monitoring pupil engagement and progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
- Helping to maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Assisting with personal care where required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
Your support will play a vital role in helping pupils build confidence, develop key life skills, and reach their full potential.
We're looking for a caring, patient, and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN in a school, care, youth work, or similar setting
- A nurturing, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Confidence supporting both individual pupils and small groups
- A willingness to provide personal care where required
- An Enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one
