We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 6 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils in their final year of primary education as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. You will play a key role in helping children stay focused, confident, and fully prepared to achieve their best academically and personally.

The Role
As a Year 6 Teaching Assistant, you will provide academic, pastoral, and behavioural support to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for Year 6 pupils
- Supporting literacy, numeracy, and SATs preparation
- Promoting confidence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and encouraging engagement in lessons
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and SEN teams
- Tracking pupil progress and contributing to intervention plans
- Supporting attendance, punctuality, and classroom readiness
- Modelling positive behaviour and maintaining high expectations
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and confident working in a school environment.
You will ideally have:
- Experience working with children or young people in a school, youth work, mentoring, or similar setting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships quickly
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Confidence supporting pupils with additional or complex needs
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow safeguarding procedures
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children
Desirable Training / Experience
- ELSA, Thrive, Nurture, or Drawing & Talking training
- Mental Health First Aid
- Team Teach or de-escalation training
- Level 4/5 qualification in counselling, youth work, or behaviour support
