Portsmouth Water are delighted to have an opening for a Learning & Development Coordinator on a 12-month fixed term basis, to support the effective planning, coordination, distribution and recording of training across the business. This is a project-based role, that will have a specific focus on supporting our responsibilities under the Security & Emergency Measures Direction 2022, ensuring SEMD Training Requirements are coordinated, managed and recorded in line with internal arrangements and regulatory expectations.

You will work closely with operational managers, subject matter experts and support functions to design and create content, maintain training plans, monitor completion, coordinate training activity and ensure accurate records are available to demonstrate compliance. Whilst in role, you will also support the coordination of mandatory, technical and regulatory training requirements, helping ensure colleagues have the right skills, knowledge and awareness to carry out their roles safely, effectively and in line with company requirements.

The role requires strong organisation, attention to detail and confidence using systems in order to maintain clear training processes, support audit readiness and provide reliable coordination across multiple workstreams in a regulated environment.

What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities

• SEMD Training: Coordinate SEMD Training Requirements, ensuring relevant colleagues receive appropriate training and awareness in line with company requirements under the Security & Emergency Measures Direction 2022. You will also be required to design and create SEMD training content in this role.

• Training Management & Records: Manage the distribution of training materials, coordinate attendance and completion, maintain accurate training records, and provide reports to evidence completion, gaps and compliance status.

• Mandatory, Technical & Regulatory Training: Support the coordination of mandatory, technical and regulatory training requirements across the business, including scheduling, tracking, reminders, escalation of overdue activity and liaison with internal and external providers.

• Systems, Reporting & Compliance Support: Maintain training information in relevant systems, produce accurate reports and dashboards, support audit preparation, and ensure training data is complete, current and easy to access.

• Communication & Collaboration: Build effective working relationships with managers, subject matter experts and stakeholders, supporting clear communication of training expectations, deadlines and completion requirements

What do you need?

Skills, Qualifications & Competencies

• Previous experience in a training coordination, learning administration or similar coordinator-level role

• Experience using content creation tools is essential, specifically Articulate 360 which would be preferred

• Good understanding of training administration, scheduling, attendance tracking and record management

• Strong systems capability, including confidence using Microsoft Office, training systems, spreadsheets, document management systems and reporting tools

• Ability to maintain accurate records and produce clear training reports for managers and stakeholders

• Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to data, documentation and compliance activity

• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain requirements clearly and follow up actions professionally

• Ability to work collaboratively with operational teams, subject matter experts, managers and external training providers

• Ability to handle sensitive or security-related information appropriately and maintain confidentiality

• Proactive, reliable and customer-focused approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery

If you are successful for the role, you will be required to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) pre-employment checks that will include a basic disclosure check. Depending on the role, you may also be required to go through the national security vetting process for either a CTC or SC clearance check. Any offer of employment is conditional upon completion and receipt of satisfactory checks.
