Are you an enthusiastic and experienced rowing coach looking to develop young athletes from their first strokes through to national competition? Join Claires Court and play a key role in shaping the next generation of rowers.

About the Role

We are seeking a committed and organised Lead Senior Rowing Coach to lead our Year 9 and Year 10 (J14/15) programme across both boys’ and girls’ squads.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality coaching while creating a positive, structured, and ambitious environment. Alongside coaching, you will support squad administration, parent communication, and event logistics.

This role is pivotal in developing athletes from complete beginners through to competitive level, ensuring strong technical foundations and a lifelong love of sport.

Based on the iconic reaches of the River Thames in Maidenhead, Claires Court School Boat Club (CCSBC) is a vibrant and ambitious rowing community with an elite pedigree.

We pride ourselves on developing homegrown talent, taking athletes from their very first strokes to the pinnacle of the sport. Within the last decade, we are the only school in the world to have produced winners in both boys’ and girls’ events at Henley Royal Regatta from complete beginners.

Alongside this high-performance success, we maintain a supportive and inclusive environment where every student has a clear pathway to progress.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver technical coaching to Year 9 and Year 10 athletes

• Develop rowers from beginner to competitive level

• Lead sessions for both boys’ and girls’ junior squads

• Build a positive, high-energy team culture

• Track attendance and athlete development

• Coordinate training sessions, equipment, and logistics

• Drive minibuses and tow trailers to training and events

• Act as a key point of contact for parents and staff

• Support the academic and pastoral wellbeing of athletes

• Maintain high safety and safeguarding standards

Person Specification

• Strong communicator with the ability to inspire young athletes

• Highly organised and reliable

• Collaborative and proactive approach

• Passionate about long-term athlete development

Requirements

• British Rowing Level 2 (or equivalent experience) preferred

• Experience coaching junior athletes or competitive rowing background

• Full UK Driving Licence

• Willingness to drive minibuses and tow trailers (training provided)

• RYA Powerboat Level 2 (or willingness to obtain)
