The Role

As the

Laser Production Supervisor, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the laser department, ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with Production, Planning, Quality and Operations, you'll play a key role in maximising productivity, reducing downtime and continuously improving performance across the department.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of laser operators and production staff
  • Manage the daily operation of the laser production department
  • Ensure production schedules are achieved safely, efficiently and on time
  • Allocate workloads and monitor departmental productivity
  • Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines when required
  • Carry out first-off inspections and ensure products meet quality standards
  • Identify and resolve production issues to minimise downtime
  • Work closely with Production Planning, Programming, Quality and Operations
  • Conduct return-to-work meetings, probation reviews and day-to-day people management
  • Promote excellent housekeeping and Health & Safety standards
  • Liaise with Maintenance to coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and quality
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members
  • ✅ What We're Looking For

    We're looking for a confident, hands-on leader who enjoys taking ownership and helping a team succeed.

    Essential Experience

    • Previous experience supervising a laser production department or similar manufacturing team
    • Strong hands-on experience operating industrial CNC laser cutting machinery
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
    • Excellent understanding of sheet metal and fabrication processes
    • Proven leadership and people management skills
    • Experience managing production priorities and meeting deadlines
    • Strong communication and organisational skills
    • Excellent problem-solving ability with a quality-focused approach
    • Good computer literacy
    • Desirable

      • Experience with
      • Bystronic, Trumpf, Amada or similar laser cutting equipment

      • ERP/MRP system experience
      • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement knowledge
      • Forklift Licence
      • First Aid qualification
