About the role
As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor your manager will be our Senior Quantity Surveyor. You will work 37 hours a week on a permanent basis, working flexibly both on site and in the office in the Vico Homes operating area with our Head Office in Castleford.
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor role is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their Quantity Surveying career. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll receive training, support and practical experience in estimating, cost management, procurement, contract administration and project delivery across a varied portfolio of reinvestment and maintenance projects.
You'll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, helping to deliver projects safely, efficiently and within budget while developing the technical, commercial and professional skills needed for a successful career in Quantity Surveying.

*Delivery of our planned investment and improvement programmes
*Supporting the commercial management of planned maintenance contracts
*Contributing to projects that improve the quality and sustainability of customers' homes
What you’ll do
*Support the commercial management of construction projects, gaining experience in procurement, cost forecasting, valuations, contract administration and project delivery.
*Develop your quantity surveying and estimating expertise by assisting with cost plans, material take-offs, measurements, budgets and cashflow forecasting across a range of reinvestment and maintenance projects.
*Work closely with suppliers, subcontractors and operational teams, helping to evaluate tenders, monitor performance and ensure value for money.
*Learn about construction contracts, commercial governance and change control processes, supporting the management of variations, risks, claims and contractual documentation.
*Contribute to project reporting and financial performance monitoring, maintaining accurate records and helping deliver high-quality projects safely, efficiently and within budget.
*Participate in training and development opportunities, working towards professional qualifications and career progression within Quantity Surveying.
