Description
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Temporary Accommodation Reduction Officer to join our Housing team on a temporary basis. This role is pivotal in supporting the council's strategic objective to reduce the use of temporary accommodation by implementing effective interventions and support mechanisms for vulnerable households. The successful candidate will work closely with multiple stakeholders including clients, housing providers, social services, and external agencies to help secure sustainable housing solutions. You will be responsible for reviewing cases to identify opportunities for reducing the length of stay in temporary accommodation and preventing homelessness. This position requires excellent communication and negotiation skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to social justice. You will be part of a dynamic team focused on delivering impactful housing services that meet diverse community needs, and you will play a crucial role in monitoring outcomes and reporting on progress. Responsibilities
Identify and implement strategies to reduce the number of households in temporary accommodation.
Conduct thorough case reviews to assess the housing needs and circumstances of clients.
Liaise with landlords, housing associations, and other stakeholders to facilitate access to permanent housing.
Provide advice and support to clients to help them sustain their tenancies and prevent homelessness.
Work collaboratively with social services and other agencies to coordinate housing solutions.
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of accommodation reduction initiatives.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with data protection and confidentiality policies.
Support the development of policy and procedure related to temporary accommodation reduction.
