Engineering Co-ordinator
Highways and Engineering Services Community & Environmental Services Location: Layton Depot Grade H1
Blackpool Council is looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Co-ordinator to join our Highways and Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing and coordinating highway maintenance operations that help keep Blackpool's road network safe, efficient and fit for the future
As Engineering Co-ordinator, you will support the Engineering Services Manager in the delivery of the Council's highway maintenance programme. You will help manage operational activities, budgets, resources and performance, whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety and legislative requirements
About the role
• Coordinate highway maintenance activities, resources, operatives, plant and materials.
• Support the planning and delivery of maintenance programmes in line with the Highways Asset Management Plan.
• Monitor and administer engineering and highway maintenance budgets.
• Manage and respond to enquiries from residents, elected members and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and statutory requirements.
• Manage and support Highway Inspectors and operational staff.
• Prepare performance, financial and management reports for senior leaders.
• Provide technical advice and guidance on highways-related matters.
• Assist in maintaining records that support the Council's highway claims and defence processes.
• Deputise for the Engineering Services Manager when required.
We are looking for someone who has
• A Level 4 NVQ/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience working within a highways maintenance or civil engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of highway maintenance techniques, materials and legislation.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements and operational compliance.
• Experience managing staff, resources and performance.
• Strong organisational, communication and report-writing skills.
• Excellent IT skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• A full driving licence.
