Role Purpose

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual who will support the delivery of early intervention work with children in conflict with the law. The post holder will work primarily with children aged 12-18 years as part of our aim to divert children from formal processes, such as the Children’s Hearing System and Court. We are seeking someone with experience of multi-agency working and knowledge of key policies such as GIRFEC and the Whole Systems Approach (WSA).

The post holder will be involved in direct work with young people through completing short assessments and plans, contribute to social workers plans where young people’s needs are more complex, provide support for those involved in Court processes and gather children and families’ views about early intervention options prior to decisions being made about them.

To support and enhance our delivery of Restorative Justice Practice, the post holder will also receive training in facilitating Restorative Justice and provide an independent facilitator role within the process.

Scottish Borders Council are committed to keeping The Promise and keeping children, young people and their families' voices at the heart of everything we do. We strive to recruit workers who are passionate about working with children and young people and assessing and supporting their strengths to move towards better outcomes.

Where this is a requirement for the successful candidate to work from home as part of the role you will be provided with the necessary IT equipment by the Council, however, you will be responsible for the provision of any required furniture.
