We are looking for a kind, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to provide one-to-one support to a friendly 65-year-old lady who would like to regain the confidence to enjoy spending time in her local community.
Following a bereavement, she has found it increasingly difficult to access the community independently due to heightened anxiety. With the support of a compassionate and understanding Personal Assistant, she hopes to gradually rebuild her confidence and continue enjoying activities that are important to her.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building trusting relationships and supporting people to maintain their independence and wellbeing.
The Role
You will provide one-to-one support to help the employer access the local community in a safe, reassuring and positive way. Your role will include:
• Supporting her to attend church and visit local cafés.
• Providing reassurance and emotional support while out in the community.
• Helping her feel safe and confident in public settings.
• Offering calm, patient support if she becomes anxious or distressed.
• Accompanying her on community outings at a pace that suits her.
• Encouraging her confidence and independence through gentle, consistent support.
• Building a trusting relationship that enables her to feel secure when leaving her home.
About the Person You Will Support
She is a thoughtful and gentle lady who enjoys spending time in her local community but currently finds unfamiliar environments and interactions with strangers overwhelming.
She is particularly sensitive to:
• Loud noises and raised voices.
• Busy or unpredictable environments.
• Situations where other people's behaviour may cause her distress.
Having the support of a consistent Personal Assistant will help her feel safe, reduce her anxiety, and enable her to gradually become more confident accessing the community.
