Luma Education Recruitment is seeking an experienced SEN / SEMH Teacher to join a nurturing and supportive specialist education setting in Colchester.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher who enjoys working in a smaller, more personalised environment where you can build strong relationships with pupils and make a meaningful difference to their educational journey.
The setting supports children and young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, providing a calm, structured and supportive learning environment. With very small class sizes (maximum four pupils), teachers can focus on individual progress, engagement and confidence-building.
The successful candidate will deliver a broad curriculum, including core subjects such as English, Maths and Science, adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs and helping pupils work towards their personal and academic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs
Teach across a range of subjects, including English, Maths and Science where appropriate
Create a calm, structured and nurturing classroom environment
Build positive relationships with pupils, supporting their academic, social and emotional development
Work closely with support staff and the wider team to provide consistent support
Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning profiles and needs
Support pupils who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education
