Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Democratic Services Officer to join our team on an interim basis. This pivotal role involves providing expert advice and comprehensive support to elected members and senior management in the effective governance of democratic processes. The successful candidate will play a critical part in managing committee meetings, ensuring transparency, and facilitating smooth decision-making procedures within the local government framework. This position requires strong knowledge of democratic services, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. As a Senior Democratic Services Officer, you will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of democratic operations, delivering high-quality administrative support, and driving improvements in service delivery. This interim role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful civic engagement and influence governance at a strategic level while working within a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

Provide expert advice on democratic processes and procedures to elected members and officers.

Manage the preparation and distribution of agendas, reports, and minutes for committees and council meetings.

Coordinate the logistics of council and committee meetings, including venue arrangements and technology support.

Ensure compliance with legal and constitutional requirements related to democratic services.

Support the facilitation of effective decision-making by providing accurate and timely information.

Liaise with various departments and external partners to support democratic governance.

Develop and implement improvements to democratic service processes and documentation.

Support the induction and training of elected members on governance and procedural matters.

Hours Per Week: 37

Start Time: 09:00

End Time: 17:00

Pay Per Day: £277.80

Location: Slough, Berkshire
