Applications are invited fora replacement full time Senior Fellow appointment to theNorfolk and Waveney Urology service, providing care across three Acute Trusts. It is expected that the post holder will be trained in general urology.
The post holder will be responsible for elective urology inpatients, and participate in the daytime on-call rota at the James Paget University Hospital (JPUH). They will also have an on call commitment at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital (NNUH). This post is based at the JPUH with out-of-hours commitments at NNUH.
A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

The successful candidate will be expected to work at Senior Clinical Fellow (ST3 or above) level, supporting the Foundation Year Trainee’s and also to provide on-call urology cover during the day. The appointee will be supported by Consultants, and other senior members of the department.
The successful appointee will be responsible for the day to day running of the urology ward, contributing in theatre sessions, Outpatient clinics and arranging admission and discharges under Consultant supervision. A ward round will be conducted each morning with junior staff, which will incorporate the management of urological patients and seeing ward referrals. Emergency urological admissions out of hours are transferred to the NNUH for management.
The appointee will undertake the routine and emergency care of urology patients under consultant supervision. The appointee would be expected to provide on-call cover for Urological emergencies on a 1:4 rota basis from Monday to Friday 0800- 1800 and liaise with NNUH on call team if a patient requires admission. There will be an on call commitment at NNUH, the current rota is 1 in 12.
The post will give plenty of opportunities for learning urological procedures. There is exposure to theatres and endoscopy sessions on a regular basis where hands on training will be given. It is ideally suited to anybody who would like to pursue a career in urology.
