We are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist school in Middlesbrough that supports pupils aged 4 to 19. The school provides a structured, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every learner is encouraged to develop their confidence, independence, and individual strengths.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff to help pupils access learning, develop communication and social skills, and achieve their personal and educational goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Supporting pupils throughout the school day in both classroom-based and practical learning activities

- Encouraging engagement, participation, and positive behaviour

- Assisting pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation

- Supporting individual education plans and personalised learning programmes

- Promoting independence and helping learners develop essential life skills

- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families

- Working collaboratively with teachers and multidisciplinary professionals to support pupil progress and wellbeing

About You

We're looking for individuals who:

- Have experience working with children, young people, or adults with additional needs (desirable but not essential)

- Are patient, empathetic, and resilient in their approach

- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Are passionate about supporting children and young people with Autism

- Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a supportive team

- Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Working Hours

- Monday to Friday

- 8:30am - 3:30pm

- Full-time position

- September starts available
