Summary

Primary Role 

Provide professional leadership for maternity education and workforce development, leading the design, delivery and evaluation of education programmes that improve clinical competence, patient safety, evidence-based practice and patient outcomes across maternity services.

The post holder will work clinically with midwives in all clinical areas to ensure that these midwives are assessed in the breadth of clinical competencies required to ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate midwifery practice.

• Develop and maintain electronic training databases for midwifery and support staff.

• Develop and support the delivery of education and training programmes within the maternity unit to meet the needs of the registered midwifery workforce and support staff.

• Deliver training on designated programmes to address midwifery requirements both in a classroom setting and within the clinical area.

• Participate in developing and facilitating training and education programmes with the Trust Workforce Development Team.

• Provide mentorship, coaching, supervision and shadowing opportunities to each individual to support their professional development.

• Provide training and support to preceptors, and mentors to enable them to provide the appropriate supervision within the clinical areas
