We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking individual to join our operational management team within the Directorate of Medicine as an Assistant Directorate Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your operational management career within a large and diverse clinical directorate, supporting a range of inpatient and outpatient services that make a real difference to the people of Tameside and Glossop.

Working closely with clinical, nursing and corporate colleagues, you will support the delivery of high-quality services through operational management, performance improvement, workforce coordination, governance and service transformation. This varied role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem solving, building relationships and working in a fast-paced environment.

We are looking for someone with experience of NHS operational management, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to analyse complex information and manage competing priorities. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, are essential.

In return, you will join a supportive and collaborative management team committed to innovation, continuous improvement and developing our people. This is a fantastic opportunity to broaden your experience, contribute to meaningful service improvements and help shape the future of Medicine services at the trust.

As an Assistant Directorate Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the operational delivery of services across the Medicine Directorate. Working alongside the Directorate Manager, Deputy Directorate Managers and multidisciplinary clinical teams, you will help ensure our services are safe, effective and responsive to the needs of our patients.

You will support the day-to-day operational management of designated specialties, monitor and improve performance against national and local standards, coordinate medical workforce activities, and contribute to the delivery of service improvement and transformation programmes. The role also involves supporting governance processes, including complaints and incident management, analysing operational performance data, and working collaboratively with clinicians and corporate teams to improve patient pathways and service efficiency.

This is a varied and rewarding role, offering the opportunity to contribute to projects that make a real difference to patient care while developing your operational management skills within a supportive and forward-thinking team. You will be encouraged to take ownership of delegated workstreams, build strong working relationships across the organisation and play an active role in driving continuous improvement across the Directorate.
