Summary

Carry out health promotion activities and plan events in current screening areas. Work closely with the breast screening nurse. Contribute at network meetings and team events. Support health fairs, and other community engagement events to deliver health promotion and brief interventions Contribute to research and development as directed by breast screening nurse or Programme Manager Carry out patient DNA telephone clinics to gain understanding and provide support for non-attenders, auditing each call. Provide information and routine health promotion advice. Liaise with GP practices and Primary care to plan and discuss Health promoting ideas and concerns. Liaise with businesses to help reach target populations and communities. Actively seek out Hard to Reach populations and help them to engage in health lifestyle initiatives Keep up to date with the breast screening schedule in Avon Breast Screening area. Contribute at network meetings and team events. Monitor and evaluate outcomes via processes, procedures, and systems. Develop fact sheets and resources to use on social media and breast screening web page Schedule new or follow-up outpatient appointments, organise investigative and diagnostic appointments in line with NHSBSP standards and performance targets. To ensure that routine results letters are despatched to clients in a timely manner. To escalate any delays in the pathway to the Screening Officer Manager. To deal with complex and sensitive enquiries from all service users in a helpful, courteous and diplomatic manner. Receive calls from health care professionals, Trust employees and other breast screening offices regarding the screening programme, offering help and advice in accordance with agreed NHSBSP policies and guidelines. To manage reception area, welcome and assist patients, relatives/friends and other visitors on arrival in the unit and inform appropriate staff. To communicate effectively and promptly to all enquiries in a discreet manner, with empathy and sensitivity. Provide administrative support to consultant/clinical teams. Regular communication with consultant teams, clinical staff and directorate management to enable efficient processes Printing, checking and sending all routine result letters, non-attender letters and ad-hoc appointment letters, ensuring they are dispatched within the time specified in the NHSBSP guidelines. Maintain a working knowledge of in-house computer systems to access relevant information as required in order to always provide an efficient service. Maintain a working knowledge of other colleagues principal duties to cover duties during times of staff holiday and sickness, for example ceasing clients from the breast screening programme; Managing screening appointments for clients on the family history programme; Making assessment appointments; Running and sending reports to individual GP practices. Be involved in the administration side of research trials the screening programme is taking part in, for example giving clients a brief overview of the trial, sending trial information in the post. To assist with the training of new colleagues, as required To have active input in the review of work instructions/protocols for the department. To follow established policies and protocols. To draft new policies and protocols for own work area, as required. Participate in the national Quality Assurance procedures including a three yearly QA review. Within this review complete a monthly audit of departmental procedures by designated auditors and provide a feedback report to the co-ordinator.
