Summary
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Optometry Administrator to join our busy and evolving Optometry service. This is a varied and rewarding role suited to an individual who thrives on working independently, managing competing priorities, and developing specialist knowledge within a clinical environment.
You’ll play an important part in keeping the service running smoothly, from coordinating clinics and managing patient-related queries to supporting ordering and stock processes. Much of the role involves working with systems and information where accuracy is key, so attention to detail and a practical, methodical approach are essential.
As you develop in post, you will gain specialist knowledge in optometry systems, patient pathways and optical services, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build expertise in a technical healthcare setting.
• Plan and organise your own day-to-day workload to support the running of the optometry service, responding to changing priorities and clinic needs.
• Manage clinic administration, including setting up and adjusting clinics, booking appointments, and coordinating rooms and clinician availability.
• Handle patient, staff and supplier queries, providing clear information and escalating to clinical staff where needed.
• Process contact lens orders and maintain related records, ensuring patients meet required criteria and resolving any queries.
• Support ordering and stock control, including checking stock levels, placing orders, receipting deliveries, and following up discrepancies. Carry out HESP voucher checks and processing, ensuring forms are accurate and ready for payment.
