Summary

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £50,000 per annum

Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off rotating days and nights

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team on a 4 on, 4 off rotating day and night shift pattern.

Offering a salary of £50,000 per annum, this is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong electrical and mechanical maintenance experience to play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of modern manufacturing equipment.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Coordinator, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing faults and implementing effective repairs to minimise production downtime. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping to improve equipment reliability, safety and operational efficiency.

Day-to-Day Duties

    • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and site equipment.

    • Respond quickly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns.

    • Diagnose faults and complete repairs in a safe and efficient manner.

    • Read and work from electrical drawings and technical documentation.

    • Complete maintenance records and shift handover reports accurately.

    • Support production teams to reduce downtime and improve performance.

    • Assist with root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.

    • Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures.

    • Work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

    • Support contractors on site and ensure site procedures are followed.

    • Maintain a clean and organised working area.

    • Undertake any other reasonable engineering duties as required.

    Required Experience & Skills

    Essential

      • Proven maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.

      • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.

      • Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery (Siemens preferred).

      • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

      • Experience completing planned preventative maintenance schedules.

      • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.

      • Good communication and problem-solving skills.

      • Computer literate, including maintenance systems and Microsoft Office.

      Qualifications

        • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

        • ONC / City & Guilds in an engineering discipline.

        • 18th Edition qualification or equivalent.

        Desirable

          • Experience within a food manufacturing environment.

          • Experience with frequency inverters and automation systems.

          • TIG welding, fabrication or machining experience.

          • Basic knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems.

          • Experience managing contractors and permit-to-work systems.
