Are you a passionate and nurturing teacher with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you enjoy supporting children at the earliest stages of their learning and development?
A welcoming specialist provision in Hackney is seeking a dedicated Reception SEN Teacher to join their team for the new academic year. This full-time, term-time role follows the Jewish academic calendar and offers an excellent opportunity to secure a permanent position following an initial temporary placement.
The school provides a highly structured, inclusive, and supportive environment for pupils working at early developmental stages. With a strong emphasis on communication, pre-literacy, pre-numeracy, and personal development, you'll be part of a collaborative team committed to helping every child achieve meaningful progress.
As a Reception SEN Teacher, you will:
- Teach a small class of KS1 and KS2 pupils working at Reception-level developmental stages
- Deliver engaging, highly differentiated lessons that support early communication, pre-literacy, and pre-numeracy skills
- Plan learning experiences tailored to each pupil's individual needs and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes
- Foster a calm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment where children feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide consistent, holistic support
- Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies to maximise engagement and achievement
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive relationships through inclusive teaching practices
We're looking for a teacher who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Has experience teaching within a specialist SEN or special school setting
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of early childhood development and developmental learning
- Can confidently differentiate learning to meet a wide range of complex needs
- Is patient, resilient, and committed to delivering outstanding SEND education
- Builds positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team
- Competitive daily rates from £180 per day, dependent on experience
- A clear temp-to-perm pathway with the opportunity to secure a permanent role
- Full-time, term-time only working pattern
- A supportive specialist school with experienced staff and multidisciplinary professionals
- The opportunity to make a lasting impact on children's educational and personal development
- Ongoing support throughout the recruitment process
If you're passionate about supporting children with additional needs and enjoy teaching at the earliest stages of learning and development, we'd love to hear from you.
