Summary

Whipps Cross is looking to recruit a Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) Band 3 who will work at Woodlands Day Unit in Whipps Cross University Hospital. This post is open to individuals who have experience as a Healthcare Support Worker

We are looking for compassionate and motivated individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care in a hospital setting. The role involves undertaking a range of delegated clinical tasks, such as:

• Patient observations (e.g., monitoring vital signs)

• Phlebotomy – taking blood tests

• Assisting with personal care and mobility

• Supporting patients’ nutritional and hydration needs

• Undertaking limited range of delegated duties (e.g. taking blood pressure, recording ECG, MRSA screening)

• Simple wound dressings

• Strong teamworking and communication skills are essential to ensure the comfort, wellbeing, and safety of our patients.

• Computer skills are essential as entering patient data and details are part of the role

An excellent communicator, they should have experience of working in a team, to ensure the comfort, wellbeing and safety of our patients.

The postholder will work within the Woodlands Day Unit. This is a department specialising in giving chemotherapy and other treatments to patients with cancer, rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions requiring intravenous therapy.

Barts Health has a diverse and busy service that may require staff to be flexible in their working. The post holder will be required to work within a challenging clinical environment. The shift pattern for this role is day shifts only.

The post holder will be an integral part of the nursing team actively taking part in meeting the needs of patients and of the service in accordance with agreed standards under direct supervision of the registered nurse. The post holder will continue to develop essential competencies though training and practice to ensure safety and quality are the priority.

Phlebotomy skills are essential to this role. Full training will be given if you do not have this skill.

If you do not already have them you will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within 6 months upon successful completion of all required competencies; until then, you will be placed at a Band 2 salary.
