Summary
To provide safe, effective, woman‑centred maternity care within the community setting, managing a caseload across the antenatal and postnatal pathway, while supporting continuity, safeguarding, and public health priorities.
Proposed Interview date : 3rd September 2026
• Deliver antenatal and postnatal care in line with NICE guidance and local pathways
• Undertake:• Booking appointments
• Routine antenatal checks
• Postnatal day 1 and ongoing visits
• Recognise and escalate risk appropriately (e.g. reduced fetal movements, hypertension, safeguarding concerns)
• Support infant feeding (breastfeeding and responsive feeding)
• Manage own workload effectively across clinics, home visits, and triage
• Prioritise care based on clinical need
• Ensure timely documentation on Cerner
• Coordinate care with:• Obstetric teams
• Health visitors
• GPs
• Specialist midwives
• Promote continuity of carer wherever possible
• Develop personalised care plans in partnership with women and families
• Ensure culturally sensitive and inclusive care
• Identify and act on safeguarding concerns
• Participate in case discussions and contribute to safeguarding plans
• Promote key public health messages:• Smoking cessation
• Mental health support
• Domestic abuse awareness
• Immunisations
• Work collaboratively within the community team and wider MDT
• Contribute to handovers, safety huddles, and MDT meetings
• Maintain clear, professional communication with women and colleagues
• Report incidents via Radar
• Participate in audits (e.g. SBLCB elements, postnatal visit compliance)
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives
• Support students, newly qualified midwives, and support workers
• Act as a role model for best practice
• Maintain own continuing professional development (CPD)
• Flexible and responsive to service needs, including undertaking redeployment across different areas of maternity services as required to support safe staffing and care delivery.
