Support-worker needed for young man: Walkden/Worsley M28 area PT-SC-001

Job Description

We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic person to support a young adult (18 years old) in the Walkden/Worsley area to build confidence, independence and life skills while enjoying activities in the community.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping someone live a more independent and fulfilling life. The role involves supporting the individual to access social activities, develop practical life skills and build positive relationships within their community.

Typical activities may include:

• Attending an LGBTQ+ social group (Monday evenings)

• Visiting the local Youth Zone (Sundays)

• Swimming, mini golf and other leisure activities (Mid-week)

• Supporting hobbies and interests such as music, photography, musical theatre & concerts

The individual experiences multiple daily non-epileptic seizures, so a calm, reassuring and safety-conscious approach is important. Previous experience is welcome but not essential, as training and guidance can be provided.

• Supporting safety in the community and at home

• Encourage independent choices and decision making

• Support with accessing social, leisure and community activities

• Helping to build money management skills

• Develop independent living skills in the community such as ordering food and travelling safety

• Supporting communication and social interactions

• Provide reassurance and support during periods of anxiety or seizures
