Job Advert

We're looking for a Risk Identification Officer to join our Domestic Abuse Service in St Helens on a fixed-term contract until the

end of March 2027.

This is a key role within the service, helping to ensure survivors of domestic abuse receive the right support quickly and safely.

As the first point of contact for referrals from partner agencies, you'll triage incoming referrals, assess risk, identify

safeguarding concerns, and support survivors to access appropriate services.

Working as part of a dedicated and supportive team, you'll collaborate with a range of partner agencies to deliver a responsive,

trauma-informed, and survivor-centred service. Through your work, you'll play an important role in promoting safety, dignity, and

positive outcomes for those affected by domestic abuse.

Working pattern:

We believe that face-to-face support is key to a successful start. For this reason, you'll be based in our St Helens office Monday

to Friday while completing your induction, training and probation period, giving you the opportunity to build relationships with

colleagues and gain hands-on experience. Following successful completion and subject to business requirements, hybrid working may

then be available.

What you'll be doing:

* Receiving, screening, triaging and processing domestic abuse referrals from partner agencies, ensuring they are managed in line

with agreed standards and timescales.

* Assessing referrals for risk, urgency and safeguarding concerns, taking appropriate action and prioritising support where

needed.

* Assessing safety considerations before contact and using the Safe2Speak framework to establish safe communication routes when

required.

* Making initial contact with survivors to offer support, information and engagement with the service.

* Identifying safeguarding concerns relating to children and adults at risk and following safeguarding procedures, including

making referrals where appropriate.

* Quality checking referral information to ensure it is accurate, complete and supports effective decision-making.

* Maintaining accurate and timely records on case management systems, ensuring compliance with data protection and

confidentiality requirements.

* Supporting professionals with the completion of MERIT risk assessments following disclosures of domestic abuse.

* Acting as a point of contact for partner agencies, providing advice and guidance on referral pathways, thresholds and domestic

abuse processes.

* Assisting with service administration, data monitoring and reporting to support performance, quality assurance and

commissioning requirements.

* Managing a high-volume workload, prioritising effectively and working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to

deliver a responsive and survivor-centred service.

What we're looking for:

* Experience working within a domestic abuse, safeguarding or similar environment supporting vulnerable individuals

* Experience assessing risk, making informed decisions and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.

* A good understanding of domestic abuse, including coercive and controlling behaviour, risk indicators and the impact on

survivors and their families.

* Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities and procedures relating to both adults and children.

* Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with survivors and build positive relationships with

partner agencies and professionals.

* The ability to manage a busy workload, prioritise effectively and maintain accurate records and case notes.

* A resilient, organised and professional approach, with a commitment to delivering high-quality, survivor-centred support

Interview Process:

Candidates will be invited to attend an interview which will include a 15–20 minute unseen written activity and a competency-based

discussion. The activity will assess your ability to identify and prioritise risk, make decisions, and respond to safeguarding

scenarios. The interview will focus on your relevant experience, communication skills, and ability to manage referrals and

enquiries effectively.

Additional Information:

Each successful applicant will be required to complete the following pre-employment checks prior to a start date being agreed:

* Right to work verification

* Qualification certificate check (where applicable)

* Two satisfactory references

* Occupational Health questionnaire – Fit for Work

* DBS check (if applicable)

* Completion of all new starter documentation, including signed terms and conditions
