Summary

Do you believe sport can build confidence just as much as fitness?

Can you motivate young people, encourage resilience and help children succeed through positive relationships and active learning?

Thrive Education Group is recruiting an Active Learning Mentor to join a welcoming primary school in Liverpool, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is an ideal opportunity for someone from a sports coaching, fitness, youth work or mentoring background who wants to make a genuine difference within education.

Rather than spending every day behind a desk, you'll use movement, games and physical activity alongside classroom support to help pupils develop confidence, communication and emotional wellbeing.

About the Role

You'll become an important member of the school's support team, helping children who may need additional encouragement to engage with learning, regulate their emotions and build positive relationships with others.

Your week will be varied, combining classroom support with active sessions that help pupils develop socially, emotionally and physically.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Delivering engaging physical activities that encourage teamwork, participation and confidence

- Supporting pupils during lessons, both individually and in small groups

- Using sport and movement as positive tools to improve focus, behaviour and emotional regulation

- Adapting activities to suit individual learning needs and abilities

- Supporting playtimes, enrichment sessions and school sporting events

- Encouraging pupils to develop resilience, independence and positive self-esteem

- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to provide consistent support

- Helping create an inclusive, safe and encouraging learning environment

We're looking for someone who:

- Has experience working with children or young people in sport, coaching, education, youth work or similar settings

- Is passionate about encouraging active lifestyles and positive wellbeing

- Builds strong relationships through patience, consistency and encouragement

- Remains calm and confident when supporting children with additional needs

- Enjoys working as part of a collaborative school team

- Has a genuine desire to help every child reach their potential

Why join Thrive Education Group?

Many of the best school support staff come from coaching and mentoring backgrounds. If you're looking to transfer your skills into education, we'll help you make that transition successfully.

This is a rewarding opportunity where you'll see the difference your support makes every day while gaining valuable experience within a supportive primary school.

What you'll receive

- £90 per day with weekly pay

- Full-time, term-time only hours

- Ongoing guidance from a dedicated education consultant

- Opportunities for long-term and permanent positions

- Experience within a supportive and inclusive SEND environment

- A role where your enthusiasm and encouragement can transform a child's confidence and love of learning

If you're passionate about inspiring young people through sport, movement and positive relationships, we'd love to hear from you.
