KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Harrow, HA3 (commutable from Kenton, Wealdstone, Stanmore, Queensbury, Kingsbury)

£110-£120 per day

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Harrow from September.

This rewarding role involves providing dedicated support for a Key Stage 1 pupil with Autism (ASD), helping them access learning, develop communication skills and build confidence within the classroom. The school has a strong SEND provision and a supportive leadership team committed to ensuring every child reaches their full potential.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs.

About the Role

As a KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism within a KS1 classroom

- Adapt learning activities to meet the child's individual needs and EHCP targets

- Use visual timetables, structured routines and communication strategies to promote engagement

- Support emotional regulation and encourage positive behaviour throughout the school day

- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals to implement tailored support plans

- Record progress and contribute to pupil reviews and planning meetings

- Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

Ideal Candidate Profile

- Previous experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) in a primary school setting

- A patient, calm and nurturing approach

- Strong communication and behaviour management skills

- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families

- Knowledge of strategies such as PECS, Makaton or sensory approaches is desirable

- Committed to a full-time, long-term role from September
