Summary
Knowledge, Training, Experience and Skills Required Significant post-registration experience in General Radiography. Experience working independently within an MRI service. Experience of cross-sectional imaging workflows.- Experience of working within multidisciplinary teams.- Experience with RIS/PACS systems. Excellent understanding of MRI safety principles. Comprehensive knowledge of radiation protection legislation. Understanding of IR(ME)R and professional standards. Knowledge of infection prevention and patient safety principles. Understanding of clinical governance and quality assurance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.- Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities. Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions. Main Duties and Responsibilities Participate in weekend, evening and on-call rotas where required. Support service development and implementation of new imaging techniques. Assist in achieving departmental performance targets and patient access standards. Promote excellent patient experience and continuous service improvement. Perform a comprehensive range of General Radiography examinations to a consistently high standard. Undertake MRI examinations in accordance with departmental protocols, safety standards, and referral criteria. Assess imaging requests to ensure examinations are appropriate and justified. Adapt imaging techniques to meet individual patient needs while maintaining diagnostic image quality. Recognise significant or unexpected findings and escalate appropriately in accordance with departmental policy. Ensure compliance with MRI safety screening procedures and maintain a safe MRI environment. Administer intravenous contrast media where appropriately trained and authorised. Cannulate patients where competency has been achieved. Participate in imaging of emergency inpatient and outpatient cases as required. Support specialist imaging procedures where appropriate.
